2013 - 2016

R&D Foundation

From 2013 to 2015, leveraging the strengths of universities, our company’s team was among the first internationally to establish a research laboratory dedicated to the development of sodium-ion battery materials and technologies. We actively applied for and obtained authorization for several national invention patents. In 2015, our R&D team expanded in size, and our work on developing cathode materials and electrolytes received recognition from peers both domestically and abroad. In 2016, we achieved milestone results in the field of sodium-ion battery materials and technologies, filing and being granted five national invention patents for sodium-ion battery cathode materials, anode materials, and electrolyte salts. The development of both cathode and anode materials garnered widespread acclaim.

2017 - 2021

Technological breakthrough

In 2017, we successfully developed core precursor materials and optimized the sintering process, and subsequently promoted and validated their application. In 2019, we achieved significant breakthroughs in the compositional control of oxide cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries, publishing our findings in a top-tier SCI journal and attracting widespread attention. During this period, I led and participated in six key national- and provincial-level science and technology projects, securing funding totaling 20 million yuan. In 2021, I actively initiated the establishment of the company’s R&D and management teams and meticulously prepared plans for the commercialization of research outcomes.

2022 - 2023

Company Establishment and Development

In November 2022, ZheJiang VASTSIB Technology Co., Ltd. was officially established in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province. In May 2023, the company completed the construction of a pilot production line with a capacity of 1,000 tons and set up a full-cell laboratory, propelling the company’s development onto a fast track. By the end of the same year, the company built and installed China National Petroleum Corporation’s first “photovoltaic-storage integrated” sodium-ion battery energy storage system at an oilfield site in Langfang, North China Oilfield. After more than two years of operational testing, the system received high praise from leaders at all levels within CNPC.

2024

Business Development

In January 2024, TianJin VASTSIB Technology R&D Co., Ltd. was established, focusing on in-depth R&D of sodium-ion materials and integration of energy-storage technologies, thereby achieving integrated R&D and production—from materials to energy-storage equipment integration. In October, JiangSu VASTSIB Technology Co., Ltd. was founded, investing in Yancheng to build a 10,000-ton-scale production line for sodium-ion cathode materials (layered oxide and polyanionic). This makes it the first company in the industry to possess two technological routes for sodium ions and to invest in a 10,000-ton-scale production line.

2025

Joint venture development

On January 21, 2025, the Investment Management Committee of PetroChina North China Oilfield adopted a resolution to establish a joint venture with Zhejiang VASTSIB. On March 4, "TianJin VASTSIB-Petro Smart Smart Power&Energy Co., Ltd" was officially established in the Airport Free Trade Zone of Tianjin Binhai New Area, and will provide large-scale supplies for sodium-ion battery energy storage systems within the PetroChina system. In addition, Shanxi VASTSIB was established, focusing on the R&D and production of ultra-low-temperature flame-retardant electrolytes. Looking ahead, the company will continue to enhance its service quality and technological capabilities with a pragmatic and innovative approach, contributing to the development of clean energy technologies.
